Megan Knee Surgery
Recently Megan has been having more and more pain in her knee so I finally convinced her to see an orthopedic surgeon again. She doesn't like to go to the doctor since they always seem to want to cut her open. This time was no exception. The doctor examined her knee, a MRI, and x-ray, and decided that she needed another knee surgery. The doctor decided to do a Fulkerson osteotomy and a lateral release. The Fulkerson osteotomy is where the doctor cuts off the top part of the tibia and moves it up and over to the side. The lateral release is where the doctor moves the patella over to line it up better. Hopefully this will solve at least some of her knee pain and get her knee to line up better. Now she is on crutches and non weight bearing for at least six weeks. She is not having a lot of fun right now and I get to play nurse for awhile. Give her a call if you are bored.
