Pre-Christmas

I was looking at our post today and realized that it has been a long time since we have made any post. It has been an interesting last couple of weeks. We have both been very busy with work and Christmas stuff. I have also been very busy with fire and ambulance stuff. I started my ambulance FTO the end of November and finally got it done this past week. And, not to brag, but I was also promoted to captain and received the EMT of the Year award for 2008 at our fire Christmas party. Being a captain has kept me very busy so far. We traveled down to Salt Lake to have a early Christmas and dinner with Meg's parents and brother and his wife this past weekend. I was on shift on Saturday morning and Megan had to work. Just before my shift ended, I got a surprise phone call from my friend Dallas. He and his wife Jessica lived in the same apartment complex when we lived in Cedar City. They moved to Washington state after graduation. Dallas told me he was visiting his sister in Logan, so we got together for lunch. It was great to see them again, even if it was just a short amount of time. Unfortunately, we were only able to visit with them for a couple of hours and then we had to head to Salt Lake. We left in a pretty bad snowstorm. It took us forever to get over the canyon, only to come out in Brigham City and see lights from backed up cars stretched all the way to the freeway. The freeway was shut down from Brigham City to almost Ogden. We had to go down Highway 89. The traffic going northbound on the highway were backed up the entire way. The roads were still really bad so it was slow going. We got about halfway and looked over to see that they had reopened the freeway. We found out later that there was a really bad accident on the freeway with about 31 cars involved. We finally got to Salt Lake and had a great time with Megan's family. We exchanged presents and had a great dinner that Maggie had prepared. Megan got a new, very nice camera from her parents. She is very excited about it and has been playing with it ever since she got it home. I got Simpsons Season 8 to add to my collection and a new 19" TV that is perfect for the bedroom. As a parting note, on Friday morning I went to a fatal crash north of Smithfield. The man had four kids and was in my parents ward. Please be careful out there this holiday season. It wasn't his fault and there probably was not anything he could have done about it, but please be careful. Just remember that getting there is better than getting there fast. Also remember all the people that would miss you if you were gone. Merry Christmas everyone. Enjoy your holidays.

Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! I have always liked Thanksgiving since it is a day we can stuff ourselves and not feel bad about it. It is also the beginning of the Christmas season. We spent Thanksgiving with my mom's family in Logan. We have to meet in a church since there are too many of us to fit in anyone's home. We had a good time stuffing ourselves and visiting with relatives. On another note, we finally decided on a name for our new puppy. After much debate and a lot of suggestions, we named him Trigger. It fits him well. We are enjoying having him in our lives and our other dog, Sam, seems to enjoy having another dog to play with. After dinner, I went to the fire station for my shift and Megan went with my sisters to a movie. So now I am sitting here at the station, bored and hoping for a call. I decided that we needed a new post. All of you have a great holiday and enjoy your long weekend.

Puppies and Dogs

Sad news first... a few weeks ago one of our labs got hit on the road in front of our house. The saddest part is that our other dog has been in depression since then so the fun news we got a new dog today. He is a Walker Hound and super cute. Sam our lab seems to like him so far and is acting a little more frisky. I am putting a picture on and would like suggestions for a name. It is not a very good picture because it was getting dark. I will try to get a better picture soon.

Leave a comment if you have any name suggestions. Thanks.

Need something new

Since I am sick of seeing the same post everyday, (and Megan is at work and I am bored) I decided to do one myself. Since I have no idea what to put in the blog, I thought I would include a couple of my favorite pictures. The barn on fire was a barn fire just across the field from our house. It was the biggest fire we have had this year. The barn and outbuildings were a loss before we even got on scene. We did save the house however. The second picture is a picture of Truck 3 in San Francisco. On our trip to San Francisco, while Megan was in meetings, I was out looking for fire trucks and found Station 3. The firefighter I talked to was nice enough to let me crawl all over his truck and take pictures of it. There have been rumors we are trying to get a ladder truck for our station sometime in the near future. This would complement our 3 engines and other equipment we currently have and be a great addition to our department. I am also grateful for the election to be over. I never enjoy the presidential elections since it just seems to be a mud slinging contest with a lot of empty promises made by either side. I have to admit I was not happy with the outcome, but hopefully he keeps some of his promises and doesn't keep some of the others. I often wish that the presidential elections were like the Utah Governor's race we had 4 years ago. Both candidates agreed at the beginning to run clean campaigns. A couple of times some mud slinging started and the candidates immediately put an end to it. It was such a nice election and I wish that all campigns were like that. This blog proves that Megan should do all the blogs from now on.

Just a quick update!

I have decided that I really love conference weekend. I am able to stay in my pajamas and still get spiritually fed! I thought that the talks this time were great and I just love President Monson. My parents came up from Heber and spent the day wathcing with us. I love living close enough for that. Now I am just starting to stress about our wards Primary Program. I am the first counselor in the presidency therefore over the program. I wrote it earlier this year then procrastinated the rest of it. I have a little over a week to get it done and I am feeling al little crazy right now. I am sure it will come together in the end I just had to complain for a minute!

We are enjoying the nice weather and hope to get a couple more games of golf in before the snow hits. We also laid sod not too long ago and needs to stay somewhat warm until it settles in to the yard. I love the fall. It is my favorite time of year because of all the beautiful colors surronding us on the mountains. It is so pretty right now.

Six years and still going!

So I can't believe it, yesterday Tom and I reached six years together. We were married in the Mount Timpanogas Temple on a gorgeous fall day. We were so lucky to have the great weather we had. We had a reception in Midway and then a week later had another reception in Cove, UT.
I feel like the luckiest girl in the world even after six years. Tom is a wonderful husband. We are so lucky to have so much in common that we can go and do things we both enjoy doing. Saturday we went to Preston and went golfing which we both love. We also love clay pigeon shooting, camping, 4-wheeling, going out to eat, playing with our two large dogs and plain old being together. We are loving life and look forward to many more years together!

Another to Brazil...

So on Tuesday we went to the airport for the third time sending one of Tom's siblings to Brazil to serve a mission. In the last three years we have sent a sister to the northern part, a brother to the southern part and now a sister to the center of Brazil. It will be fun when they are all home again the will all be speaking Portugeuse and the rest of us won't know what is going on.

The whole family was able to go and on the way home we stopped at IFly in Ogden. It is an indoor skydiving place and Millie wanted to do that for her birthday. It was a lot of fun watching her. She was so nervous at first but loved every minute of it.

From here to there in just a year!

From California to Minnesota; Oklahoma to Utah. Weddings, family, canoeing, road trips. We have had a great and exciting year.

Ben my brother got married this summer. We love our new sister-in-law Maggie. It was a gorgeous ceremony!
Our neice and nephew were so cute all dressed up!

Tom's sisters kids taking a nap at our house. Aren't they cute!

We went to San Fransico and saw Alcatraz, Ghirardelli Square, rode a street car, went to the Oakland Temple, went on a mini cruise and had a blast!

We're Blogging!

So Tom and I have followed the trend. It seems to be the best way to keep in touch with all of our family and friends. It is also a good way to keep in touch with what is going on with each other. We stay pretty busy. This is our first blog but I hope to have some pictures and more posts soon.
